We cut at a sensible blade height for Irish weather — usually 35–50 mm — so the lawn shades out moss and weeds rather than burning off in dry spells. After each cut we strim awkward corners, edge cleanly along paths, kerbs and bed lines, and bag or remove the clippings depending on conditions. Mowers are cleaned between properties to avoid spreading lawn disease.

Routine trimming is done with handheld petrol trimmers for privet, escallonia, box and similar; for taller leylandii, beech and laurel we use long-reach gear and step ladders rather than balancing on garden walls. Cuttings are dropped onto ground sheets, raked through afterwards and taken away — your lawn won't be left full of brown debris.

Domestic shrubs and roses pruned by hand at the right time of year — late winter for most deciduous shrubs, after flowering for spring-flowering varieties. We make clean cuts above outward-facing buds rather than topping plants flat, which keeps them healthy and the right size for years rather than encouraging weak, leggy regrowth.

One-off tidy ups for overgrown gardens — rental turnovers, properties going on the market, or simply a season that got away on you. We work through the site in order: hedges down to a manageable size, beds cleared and weeded, lawn brought back under control, and everything bagged and removed. You're left with a garden you can keep on top of yourself, or roll straight into a maintenance plan.
